Gathering in prayer and practice to make beauty...
Sharing the joy of icons with all people is the first agreement of the iconographer. Icons are not simply works of art, but rather sacred objects directly connected to the actual presence of God. They are the windows from this world into a place of spiritual reality invisible to the eye.
At St. Gregory’s we gather regularly to "write" (paint) icons in the fourteenth-century Russian style. You are welcome to come and see us work, learn more about icons, or learn how to write an icon yourself. All our icon workshops take place in the rotunda of the church. Materials are available for purchase on the day of the workshop. Although some experience in painting can be helpful, everyone is welcome to participate. |
The Icon Writers Group meets bi-monthly on scheduled Sundays from 12:30 - 5:00 PM. Contact Betsy Porter with questions, or to find the next meeting date.
