Holy Week Schedule
Sunday, April 2—Palm Sunday—8:30 Breakfast – 10:30 Liturgy
Holy Week begins with breakfast! Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a time of fellowship and getting ready for the service. At 10:30, we begin the liturgy, remembering Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem and sharing bread and wine at the eucharist.
Thursday, April 6—Maundy Thursday—6:00 PM
We are returning to our longstanding practice of sharing a potluck supper during the service. We ask everyone to bring simple food to share, enough to serve 4 – 6 people (salads, casseroles, veggies, etc.). A part of the meal includes the eucharist and sharing our stories. Then we will follow Jesus' commandment of love by washing each other's feet. The service concludes by cleaning the church and stripping it bare in preparation for Good Friday.
Friday, April 7—Good Friday—7:00 PM
Gathering in the darkened church building, we remember the solemn triumph of the cross. We listen to the scriptures and participate in singing the Passion Gospel. Then we offer our prayers for the world, remembering Christ's promise that God's love and care are undiminished even in death. Finally, we will lay flowers at the burial icon of Christ, offering our love and devotion before silently leaving the church to prepare for the Feast of the Resurrection.
Saturday, April 8—The Great Vigil of Easter—8:00 PM
As we welcome the Light of Christ into the church building, we listen—and participate in—stories of God's salvation from the Hebrew Bible. Then we hear the proclamation of Christ's Resurrection from the Gospel of Mark. We joyfully process around the church, calling on the saints of every age to come and rejoice in the Resurrection before returning to the building to sing, dance, share the eucharist, and feast.
Sunday, April 9—Easter Day—One service at 10:30 AM
Our combined Easter Day service is an opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to join us for eucharist, followed by lunch and an Easter egg hunt. Everyone is welcome to come and rejoice in Christ's Resurrection, reaffirming our baptismal promises.
