Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experiences though wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond.
Godly Play is designed to work best in a mixed-age classroom serving children ages 4-12. Children can transition into Godly Play from our Toddlers group (usually between ages 3-5) or out of Godly Play into Youth Group (usually between ages 10-12); talk with us about what will work best for your particular child. Godly play teachers can find resources for each lesson here. The library of Godly Play stories is here. The instruction sheet for our weekly check-in "Rocks and Water" is here. The schedule for the current Godly Play year is here. |
Classes meet Sundays at 9:45AM in the Godly Play sanctuary, located at the base of the stairs in the Admin building. On the 1st Sunday of each month, there are no children's classes.
Parents should drop children off for each Godly Play session promptly at 9:45 AM, and meet children outside the classroom promptly at 10:45 AM. We have a lot of rich experience to share in one short hour, and we don't want children to miss any of it!
You can learn more on the Godly Play Foundation website.
