All members pledge their time to St. Gregory’s, supporting the ministries of the church in dozens of different ways. Our interim rector, Paul Fromberg, invites you to consider, during Lent, how you want to be involved.
For the forty-six days of Lent I invite you to meditate on your ministry at St. Gregory’s. What gives you joy and meaning about our life together? How do you want to go deeper in the work of God that we express day by day in worship, service and learning? This Lenten invitation is for you to get a clearer sense of the concrete acts of ministry you want to take on for the next year. Examples of this are all around us: Richard and Jessica Anderson have made a commitment to do the church’s laundry for a year. Amy Baker has committed herself to teaching our younger children’s class. Mark Pritchard comes every morning to co-lead Morning Prayer. I am grateful for each of these acts of ministry and all the others that make our parish work. So what do you want to do?
On February 10 we will hold a community lunch and Ministry Fair at church, at 12:30PM, so that you can talk with others involved in different ministries, share your own ideas, and learn more about where you want to be active. On Maundy Tuesday (March 18) we gather to share the Bread and Wine, to tell our stories about God’s work in our lives and to lovingly wash each other’s feet. This year we’re adding a fourth action to our Maundy celebration.
Each member of St. Gregory’s, and all of our friends, will present a commitment to ministry card for 2008. This pledge of time and talent is all about your desire to engage more deeply in the work of God and the service of our whole community.
